Each day we’ll come together to enjoy 2 or 3 group sessions designed to help you go deeper into your understanding of yourself.
When you arrive at the session, I’ll invite you to sit peacefully to clear your mind. I’ll then introduce the theme for that session and read a poem or short story on the topic before giving you some questions to reflect and journal on quietly.
I’ll then invite you to share your reflections with a small group of one or two others if you wish.
After that, the larger group will come back together to reflect as a whole, with the opportunity to share anything that came up for you.
I’ll then close the session with a short ‘grace note’, which may be a shorter poem or piece of prose that I’ll leave you with.
In between each session you’ll have free time to spend however you choose. Often people will take the opportunity to go to their rooms to rest, sit and read or go for a walk, either on their own or with others.
Before the first session of the day, you’ll be invited to gather in silence with other retreatants who wish to do this. It’s by no means mandatory and if you’d rather take a walk then please feel free to do so.
On some retreats we’ll have what’s called a Clearness Committee, where you’ll have the opportunity to gain valuable insights from a small group of retreatants on a particular question you may have or decision you need to make in your life. If there is to be a Clearness Committee on your retreat, I’ll let you know in the welcome email and invite you to put yourself forward as the ‘focus person’ if you so wish.
